If you are getting the following error when attempting to open a form from https://www.hhs.texas.gov, follow this guide.


We need to make two changes, making Adobe Acrobat the default PDF reader, and changing how the browser opens PDF links.



Step 1 - Setting Adobe Acrobat as default

  1. Open Adobe Acrobat from the desktop and follow directions that pop up to set Acrobat as the default PDF reader
  2. If no instructions pop up to prompt you to change default reader, you can proceed to next step If you do not have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer, open a ticket requesting it be installed by emailing support@gambleguestcare.com



Step 2 - Changing how the browser opens PDFs


For Google Chrome

  1. Open Google Chrome browser. Copy the following and paste it into the URL form- chrome://settings/content/pdfDocuments?search=pdf
  2. Change option to "Download PDFs" instead of "Open PDFs in Chrome"


For Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Microsoft Edge, copy the following and paste it into the URL form and press enter- edge://settings/content/pdfDocuments?search=pdf
  2. Toggle OFF the "Always download PDF files"
